Ah, Life

So I've neglected you all terribly.

But honestly its been from a combination of things such as way too much work and what not, Ive hardly had any time to breathe. Also I've been really moody and reclusive...which I guess isn't anything new but I could technically use it as an excuse. I dunno. I dont even think Dr. Phil would know.

But in better news, we finally got internetz here at my apartamento so this will make the blogging more convinient! Yay! Plus I'll get to waste more of my life away on the computer. Double yay!

So what have I been up to? Uhh well mostly just being crabby about all the shit I have to take care of. So here's a list of what I've been doing:

1. Laughing like an idiot at videos like this (thanks to the boyfriend for this gem). And its not that it makes me an idiot to find this funny because I think it is, but its just I could replay that shit over and over again. Oh Caitlin.

I guess I need to put a banging donk on it.

2. Learning a ton about this guy
Photobucket
Oh come on, you know who that is! Its Rollo May! *coughpsychologynerdismecough*

3. Eating a lot of noodles and with my hair being its longest in quite a while I've realized that I need to get me one of these
Photobucket
Nothing ruins the experience of eating really good spaghetti like a mouthfull of your own hair.

4. Thinking about how cool owls are and being angry that I still havent seen that damn owl movie.

I'd like to think I look like ponderous owl when Im pondering.

5. Listening to really chill music

(I don't know whats up with the image they used here)

What? Are you getting mad because none of those are actual music videos? Well suck it, this is my blog.

Oh by the way, the King Night album by Salem is sooo good, I almost cried the first time I heard the whole album through. Oh fine, heres a real music video. If watching this makes you feel kind of grimy and uncomfortable, you aren't alone.

6. Trying to draw but I keep gettings distracted with other shit
Photobucket

7. Trying to avoid thinking about the fact that Halloween is coming up and I have yet to make any plans. Maybe I should be a gypsy chola like this chick
Photobucket
I dont understand any of that picture or why people do the things they do...but okay.

Ughhh Im in bed right now and I just want to stay snuggled up. Poor moody me, I need a hug

Photobucket

Oh yeah and I have work in like 2 hours. So not in the mood to be a copy cat today. Especially after being scolded last week after leaving early and supposedly leaving an unfinished job even though I left explicit instructions on what to do. Whatever, thats all I have to say about that otherwise I'll go on for another 3 paragraphs.

Poop.

I'm Cool, Thats How I Like My Sandwich Spread, Cool

Finally! An official music video from these guys!

(I totally stole this from someone's Vimeo account, but thats okay!!)

Sleigh Bells "Infinity Guitars" from Phil Pinto on Vimeo.

They're so badass. Especially the chick, Alexis Krauss. It makes her even cooler that we have similar hair dos. But yeah, this video is pretty much exactly what I envisioned it would be like. So coooool *fangirl*

Oh, here are some cool pictures I've found recently around the internetz

Those are all album covers. Damn, oOoOO and Salem have some cool album art. If Im not mistaken, both of them have albums coming out next week. Can't. Wait. The last album cover is from another favorite of mine, Zola Jesus. She's so cool!

So on a rather unrelated note, while at work the other day, I was browsing through Urban Outfitter's website. And while I normally enjoy shopping at Urban Outfitters, I saw this and I just did not understand. What the hell is it?

Photobucket

Whats your name again? Granny McBoringson? I dont understand why someone would wear this, I mean unless they're someone's third wife or something (LOL). I think that secretly my parents wish I'd dress like this so that I wouldn't attract the male species. Too bad. Been there done that, ITS TOO LATE!

Hahahaha I had to try really hard to not make any Mormon/extreme Christian jokes there. Oh come on now, you know I don't have anything against third wives!

Also while on one of my streaks of boredom at work, I stumbled upon a rather interesting article on Yahoo called "How the Term 'Hipster' Lost its Swing". Its all about how marketing lately has aimed toward the more hip crowd in recent times. Yet the word 'hipster' has become a no-no because it has become one associate with more negative qualities. I actually agree, have you seen those stupid Miracle Whip commercials?

Wow, I have never felt before that I could relate so much to a jar of mayonaise. Looks like a few of those film shots were taken straight out of a San Francisco photography student with a love of Holga photography's portfolio. Also, did you see how hip that girl was at the end holding that jar of Miracle Whip? I wanna be just like her.

Here's the article for further interest:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/20100909/sc_livescience/howthetermhipsterlostitsswing;_ylt=AqZ4kOTZrAJfqb7I8xrhAJl0fNdF

Miracle Whip is nasty shit by the way. Fuck you and your 'own unique individual blend of spices'. Thats what Im supposed to say to describe myself, ME damn it!!!

Hah, man I can't get over that.

On a completely unrelated note, the other day on my drive to school, I attempted to sing Hyperballad by Bjork. I should not do that.

Seriously, it was all kinds of bad. I hope no one in the cars around me could hear my cat like yowling. The lesson learned is that no one can do it like Bjork without sounding like they have throat cancer. But I have to say favorite part of this video is when that guy goes all crazy intense on that snare drum in the last few seconds of the song. hahahahaha

By the way...

I know this video is a few weeks old already but I just got around to watching it and...What the hell, Nick Cave??

The only way you could be an old man and get away with a video like this as well as a song like "No Pussy Blues" is if you're Nick Cave. Seriously though, what the hell is this video? WHY? And um, random 'sumbliminal' giant erection shot? Yeahh...But you know what? You keep kickin' ass Nick Cave! Honestly Im quite fond of that song. Imma look into some Grinderman.

Anyway, Im getting hungry so I think I need to go find some noms. Cuz Im a com-nom-nomunist.

I Love You

Out with June, in with July.

Here's what's been going on in my art journal that I started earlier this year
Photobucket

Photobucket
I think I want to add some more to this piece, there's too much open space.

I draw a lot of hearts, its a symbol I'm very much drawn to.
(I didn't draw these but I thought they were cool)
Photobucket

Photobucket

Maybe its because growing up Catholic I was quite often exposed to religious iconography like the Sacred Heart and what not, I love all that imagery

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

I drew the Virgin Mary once, I think I will again but on a bigger canvas.

Oh yeah, I found this rad tattoo on the internet the other day. I find it interesting that a lot of the imagery in it are symbols that I use in my art a lot. Collective unconscious anyone?

Photobucket

Oh Carl Jung.

Anyway, going back to all things holy, I came across this song about a week ago and have become absolutely addicted to it. It's actually a new genre emerging from the indie scene called witch core, or drag. Its dark and full of heavy beats...a good change of pace after all the bombardment of chillwave. Don't get me wrong, I love many of the chillwave artists, but I find this refreshing. 'King Night' by Salem is an excellent example of upcoming sounds

(Get the title of this post now?)

Oh yeah, and did you notice that the basic melody of this song is a choir singing 'O Holy Night'? Yeah, mad props Salem. Keep those beats coming!

-Caitlin

PS I went to San Francisco yesterday, pics from that adventure up tomorrow or the day after. Promise!
